Summer Lament

–part of a journal entry from this past week—

It’s funny how things change when you grow up. As a kid, summer felt like it would last forever. Then, when I was in high school, I had to give up on summer a week early, as that was when band camp started. Now, as an adult, I give up on my summer a full month before most people do because August is when football camp starts and my time with Bill goes from all the time to hardly any time. Granted, over the years as technology has evolved faster and better computers have meant more time with Bill, but depending on the prevailing attitudes of the coaches, it’s all relative. Then again, isn’t time relative anyway? I hate having to give up time with Bill, but I love this life we have and don’t want it any other way.
