Thank You UMass Football Seniors

Guys, I have never done this kind of blog post before, but I felt that this year it was more important than ever to thank you for your commitment to UMass Football over the past five years.  Lord only knows the team has been through the wringer with the move to IA and the, shall we say, questionable (at best) decisions made by the previous administration but you hung in there with us and your determination and hard work haven’t gone unnoticed.

For those of you who left and came back, I again say thank you for believing in Coach Whipple and trusting him enough to know he had your backs and cared about you as students and athletes when previous coaches hadn’t.

Blake, I have no idea how you were able to do everything you did for us, but believe me, not a single moment of your contributions, both off and on the field went unnoticed by those whose opinions truly matter.

To the student video staff, equipment managers, trainers and interns – you may think your jobs are behind the scenes and go unnoticed, but I know I speak for everyone when I say thank you – the team couldn’t do what they do without all of your dedication to your jobs.

I know it will be bittersweet for all of you tomorrow as you take the field – the season didn’t exactly go as we had hoped, but I want each and every one of you to hold your head up high at pre-game.  The scores and records aren’t what matters in the grand scheme of things. You’re Minutemen, players and assistants alike, and more importantly, you’re part of the eternal UMass Football family. Nothing will change that. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Love you guys!
