They said we were finished

And walked away; they turned their

Backs on us;

They gave up

And still we struggled, our

Dreams so close and

Yet beyond reach.

They told us we were nothing,

But we didn’t listen.

We dug in, fought for

Every inch, kept going even though

The cost was high.

In the end, we found a spark, we

Prevailed and the ember

Ignited; we tasted victory and the

Spark turned to flame.

We found a way, even when the

Obstacles before us

Seemed insurmountable;

We survived the struggle, and

We are not defeated…

We are not finished…

We are just getting started.
