Mother and Son

Four years ago, my sister brought a beautiful Red and White Irish Setter named Gingerbread into our family, and I have to admit I’ve become a bit obsessed with the breed since then. Ginger is one of the sweetest, most loving dogs I’ve ever had in my life and I just adore her. I follow her breeder, Truly Red and Whites, on Facebook because how can you not just love puppy pictures? This sweet mother is Fallon, and she recently had a litter of six females and two males. Sadly, this adorable boy’s brother didn’t survive, and I could swear Fallon looked so sad in some of the early pictures with her brood, like she wanted to tell us how much it hurt to lose a son. She’s so protective of all of her puppies, but I think she is even more connected to her little guy, who I would name Rampart if he were mine. He will only share his life with her for a little while, but I think this photo completely encompasses the bond they have. There’s so much we could learn about love and empathy from the four-legged companions we share our life with — if humans were more like their dogs, the world would be a much more peaceful, love-filled. place.
