Author’s Note – The photo prompt came from the Friday Fictioneers website. I really like the dual challenge of writing a 100 word piece and trying to find a unique way to interpret the photos.
The rules were simple. All writers were to be indefinitely detained to write for the government. There was no need for fancy pens or special notebooks – what mattered was that our words now belonged to the regime. Stubby pencils and scrap paper were the tools of a new era, as were the remnants of our souls. The old empire was no more. The people needed to be taught a lesson and we were to create that lesson. My cell was the last door on the left. Stumbling down the hallway, I wondered how long it would take for all of us to die.
(103 words after a few revisions)
Welcome to Friday Fictioneers, Jen. This was a different take on the prompt. Good story. Hope to read more of you.
Shalom,
Rochelle
Thanks! I like to try to think of something completely off the wall when I write about photo prompts. I’m glad you liked it:)
