Q1. What’s something this past week that made you slightly bananas?

It would be easier to write about what didn’t drive me bananas this week but the one really massive irritant in my life occurred this past Wednesday. It was our last choir rehearsal until the fall and we had a party at our director’s house to celebrate. Needless to say, my friends are rather eclectic, and my husband, as one of the few non-musicians at these things, doesn’t always feel like he can relate to them. On Wednesday, he was the center of attention, and not in a good way at all. As many of my long-time readers know, he works for the University of Massachusetts for the football team. We’ve had a really rough couple of years, and a couple of my friends took it upon themselves to grill him about the ill-timed move to Division IA, the financial drain it is on the university, and how it shouldn’t have been done. I was incensed enough that I drank two whole glasses of wine (which I never do) and was a little tipsy by the time we left (which really is a first for me). Bill took it differently than I did – he did point out to me that they’re just saying what casual fans who don’t live it every day would say and that they’re entitled to their opinion. Well, okay, they are, but there’s a difference between casual conversation and an attack on someone. I was highly offended (as my blood alcohol level probably would have proven) that these people who supposedly care about me would attack my husband and treat him in such a negative way. There’s a huge difference between an opinion and an attack, and I’m still upset about it (as if you couldn’t tell). I know my friends didn’t mean any ill will toward my husband, but they should have thought about what they were saying before they said it. Can’t tell this made me more than slightly bananas, can you?

Q2. What did you do last Sunday? What do you plan to do this Sunday?

I went to church and then went out to watch a bit of the high school football camp that UMass was hosting – Bill was filming it so I hung out with him and took some pictures with my new camera. I’ll probably do the same thing this Sunday since there’s another camp this weekend.

Q3. What’s something you fudged this week?

I don’t know, maybe my feelings about the party? I tried to put forth a good face while defending Bill, so I don’t think they knew how pissed I really was.

Q4. What was this week’s most interesting scoop?

Probably our meeting on Wednesday about our employee satisfaction survey. The results were both good and bad, so no real surprises there. The scoop would have been more of the comments made by my coworkers in the meeting, I guess.

Q5. What was the cherry on the top of your good or bad week?

The bad cherry is a painful neck spasm that is causing me shooting pain all the way down my side. The good cherry will be having a late dinner with Bill tonight when he gets done filming the mini-camp today. Bill always makes things better.
