The halfback is an offensive player who lines up in the backfield and runs with the ball. The most exciting and yet least successful trick play I’ve seen is the halfback pass – the halfback lines up in the backfield as usual and when the ball is handed to him, he hauls off and throws the ball down the field to a receiver. I call it the least successful because halfbacks aren’t used to throwing and most of the times I’ve seen it attempted it results in either an incomplete pass or an interception. On the off chance it does work, it can be a way to gain significant yardage. I just haven’t seen it work that often.
Hi,
I will look for the half-back pass. I do look at football. The Green Bay Packers have always been my favorite.
Your posting was interesting.

I would think that if a team seriously practice and implement the halfback pass and direct snap as part of their regular offense, they would have a lot more offensive weapons.
You’ve got a point- the halfback pass can be brilliant if it’s executed well.
