Another year has passed and here we are, celebrating our eighteenth anniversary (well, twenty-first if you count the dating years!). The more time we have together, the more I realize just how special our relationship truly is. Happy marriages are defined as much by the quiet, ordinary days as they are by major life events. My most peaceful moments are when we take a walk or watch a movie at the end of a long day – we don’t have to be doing anything in particular for me to feel loved and blessed. We’ve been fortunate that the “ups” have greatly outnumbered the “downs” and I’m proud of how we’ve made our own way. It may feel like it’s us against the world sometimes, but I’m sure glad it’s us.
